Mobile App Design – Quiet Corner
Design of a customizable mobile e-book reading app
Project Background
This project was developed for the Typography for Interactivity course at Northeastern University.
Objective
The goal was to create a design that showcases various typography features. I chose to design a customizable reading app to demonstrate the versatile applications of typography. Ultimately, this project serves as a UX/UI design initiative with a strong focus on the integration of typography.
Project Workflow
Market & User Research: Conducted research on mainstream reading apps and analyzed the target users of mobile reading platforms. Developed user personas to better understand their preferences, behaviors, pain points, and needs.
Wireframing: Designed the app’s information architecture, visual layout, and core functionalities to establish a clear structure and flow.
UI Design: Defined the color palette and selected typography features for the app, including fonts, font sizes, weights, spacing, and other typographic elements.
Prototyping: Developed an interactive prototype that highlighted and incorporated the app's key functional features.

User Persona

Wireframes
Wireframes are the first step in the design process. They outline content, establish structure for each page, and define hierarchy through size and positioning. This ensures the design tells a clear story before moving on to color mockups.

The Results
This project achieved an A grade in the course and received high praise from the instructor for its strong design and execution. The app's smooth and intuitive user flow, along with its thoughtful and creative approach to typography, were highlighted as the most outstanding aspects.
